OX-5

The Curtiss OX series of engines was first designed in 1910.

The upgrade to OX-5 was made to power the JN-4 “Jenny” in 1917.

It was obsolete by the time it was designed and was only as reliable as the maintenance it received.

Many thousand were made for the Jenny production and the

surplus after the war powered most of the civilian aeroplanes of the 1920’s

This unit was made under license by the

Willies Morrow Co. of Elmira N.Y. in 1917.
